Freedom's Eve event tomorrow

The Avenging the Ancestors Coalition will hold its second annual Watch Night/Freedom's Eve event at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Zion Baptist Church, Broad and Venango streets in Tioga.

This spiritual event will commemorate the day back on Dec. 31, 1862, when slaves anxiously awaited their freedom. On Jan. 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation into law.
